I have tested this ticket with Lucee version 7.0.0.157-SNAPSHOT and checked the getApplicationSettings(), which now lists the listenerMode and listenerType keys

Huzzaah, test code is correct, the default hasn’t changed yet!

Important

FYI this should not be called every request as it’s calculating the whole config, only as a config check, i.e. in Web.cfc in the webroot

however, it seems errors or throws in the onWebStart aren't logged or fatal?
