Server communication to Extension Provider blocks the context

Description

Per Default, if you open the Extension page in web or admin context, the server try to contact the external servers for updates. In Enterprise envionments in big companies, this internet communication was forbidden by a policy.
The lucee server was blocked for minutes for each action in extension area.
Suggested improvement:

  • Shorten the timeout phase, if no internet connection was available

  • Switch to disable automatic search for updates and contact extension provider urls.

we discussed checking for updates in a background thread upon login and caching that result. that should help with this issue. is there a ticket for that?

Hi ,

I've checked Without the internet connection on my local with latest version & older versions(5.2.2.1, 5.1.4.19). Server doesn't take too much time(Time out) to load the page. Server loads (Applications page) quickly, with the installed versions from local. Please check with also latest versions & Let Me Know without the internet connection server waits for long time.

Yes, If I try to open the page "Applications" the Server loads a Long time until the timeout was reached. If the Server cannot contact the Extension Providers (server have no Connection to Internet)

i assume you mean Extensions/Applications in the Lucee Admin with a "Extension Page"?
