Did you ever find a solution to this?
Foreign text strings (from a UTF-8 postgres DB) included in PDF (generated via CFDOCUMENT) is not implemented correctly. The special foreign characters (different from normal ASCII set) are implemented as "?". German umlauts are fine.
It depends on characters in the range of Ó (%C3%93) to ż (%C5%BC).
(was working fine in Lucee V4.5.3.018)
