Page not rendered until file saved without changes

Description

We have several apps that run in Commandbox docker containers that are combinations of modern Coldbox events and some legacy .cfm pages. We recently updated from 5.3.2 to the 5.3.3 RC and noticed that some pages would sometimes not render at all with no errors in the logs.

We went to put some debugging onto the page but found that If we log into the container, open the file, and then save it without making any changes, it will start working.

This issue has appeared in 4 separate applications with very different codebases, on both legacy pages and modern Coldbox handlers. They all have “inspect templates” set to “Once (good)”.

We have had to roll back all our production deployments to 5.3.2.

I just realized looking at Samuel’s post that I was testing the wrong version. I was testing 5.3.5.54. I’m pretty sure that I ran into it again yesterday., but that probably doesn’t matter because it was the wrong version. So that leaves me hopeful that my report was a mistake.

We have four applications running 5.3.3.54-SNAPSHOT since Christmas and have not encountered the issue. We switched a local dev machine back to the 5.3.4 RC and had it within 24 hours.

That suggests that Matt’s issue is either something else, or a separate incarnation of a related problem.
